cracked iron plate

Dear List,

        The upright I have rebuilt split in the trebel section so now I am
having a major headache.  I have spent so much time on it, I would be nice
to finish it and sell it, but I had to buy it from the customer.

        I understand from Jim Coleman Sr. that it is possible to weld cast
iron.

        Have any of you done this, if so please let me know what types of
welding rods to get,and what it the best procedure to weld a split plate.
