I was thinking of writing something like this when I made my comment, but
decided to wait for you to do it. Yes there are many differences between now
and the "good old days", and I certainly don't want to go back to that time.
I was just a little boy then in Holland, and don't remember much of what was
going on, but I have heard enough from my parents to know that the post war
era in Europe wasn't a place to be. (That is why we immegrated to the USA in
1956.)

Perhaps "life" wasn't as easy back then, but I refering to the amount of
money we spent living the life we knew. We didn't have TV's and private
phones, and frost free refrigerators, etc, so we didn't know what we were
missing.

The bottom, line, though, is that with all the modern gadgets we have today,
Life is good, and I wouldn't trade it for any other time in our history. But
what is interesting to think about, is that 30 years from now, when we look
back at how we lived in the 20th century, we are probably going say, "how
could people live like that".

Just my thoughts.
