RE: D H Baldwin with heavy action It's been my experience with the Samick made pianos, that there have been some tight hammer flange centers, and on one, tight damper underlever flange centers. In each case, repinning was the only repair and the factory (one K&C Samick, and two D H Baldwins) paid for each. Another place that has been common for me is the position of the jack under the knuckle. From the factory, these are usually too far under creating too much drag starting as soon as the jack fly touches the let off button. Once I position the jack properly under the knuckle, I puff some teflon powder on the knuckles to facilitate a really slick feel to the keys as they are played. Most people complaining of a heavy action like the slicker feel that this creates. It is not the practice for every customer. The other techs that have posted on this subject have covered everything else I could think of.
