Make sure you have at least AOL 3.0 and the 16-bit version of mIRC or a similar chat client installed. It's important to use a 16-bit chat client and NOT one for Win95. Once you're on AOL, minimize it and load mIRC. Select any "Starlink" server from the "Setup Information/IRC Servers" menu and press "edit" and set the Port to "7000". Save it out and press "Connect". If it doesn't connect first time try a couple more times to make sure as sometimes AOL is tied up. If it still fails to connect (cant find IRC server) change the port to 7070 and try again. Once it connects, click on the "Channels" folder and type in #pianotech", click on "Add" and then click on "join". The only difference between using IRC with AOL and other servers is that the "port" for the IRC client must be set to 7000 as that is the port AOL uses to reach IRC. Some success has been reported with port 7070 as well if 7000 refuses to respond but I can't verify that. Good luck!
