Another thought on Mark Graham's agraffe woes... Several people have mentioned working *up* from the underside of the plate as many of the agraffe holes go completely through. Ron Torrella (I think) even mentioned turning the broken stub on down and out the bottom of the hole. This works if the threads were originally, or subsequently, tapped clear to the bottom. However the stub is removed, it makes excellent sense to "chase" the threads with the same size tap to clean out any brass chips or shavings, bits of rust, etc. before installing the new agraffe. Also, as long as the tap is in the hole (and *iF* the hole goes clear through the plate), it makes great sense to go ahead and tap the threads all the way out the bottom of the hole. It only takes a few moments and it may just save the day for someone the *next* time that particular agraffe breaks off (God forbid :) Regards, Alan Crane, RPT Wichita State University crane@twsuvm.uc.twsu.edu
