It is indeed a good approach. There may be an inharmonicity mismatch from the middle would strings to the bass wound strings, but that is her problem. Send me the hitch pin to speaking bridge pin measurements and speaking lengths and I can make up a set of specs for that section. Again, I must emphasize the fact that the original technician had no choice but to put on the strings the string winder supplied. Very few technicians have the equipment and know how to rescale pianos now and there were far fewer then. Let me know what happens. Newton nhunt@rci.rutgers.edu
