Just received the October issue of Music Trades. On page 50 is a story = stating Sherman Clay if for sale and they have retained an investment = firm to find a buyer. The company has had only two owners since it was founded in 1870 by = Leander Sherman. The company was purchased by Bernard Schwartz in 1960 = and is still owned by the Schwartz family. The story states that by the = end of the 1960 decade they operated 48 stores, many of them mall = stores. The company was adversly affected by the collapse of the organ = market.=20 The story states Sherman Clay is a prosperous company focusing in paper, = real estate and investments. They operate the Ashuelot Paper Company and = the Putney Paper Company both located in New Hampshire. It is sad to see these giants caving in to the slow piano market.
