Just received the October issue of Music Trades. On page 50 is a story =
stating Sherman Clay if for sale and they have retained an investment =
firm to find a buyer.

The company has had only two owners since it was founded in 1870 by =
Leander Sherman. The company was purchased by Bernard Schwartz in 1960 =
and is still owned by the Schwartz family. The story states that by the =
end of the 1960 decade they operated 48 stores, many of them mall =
stores. The company was adversly affected by the collapse of the organ =
market.=20

The story states Sherman Clay is a prosperous company focusing in paper, =
real estate and investments. They operate the Ashuelot Paper Company and =
the Putney Paper Company both located in New Hampshire.

It is sad to see these giants caving in to the slow piano market. Even =
the Music Trades is not that interesting anymore. There are very few =
articles pertaining to the piano business.
