The other day I tuned a 1946 Everett console with one of those low profile
90 degree actions. Lester, Gulbransen, Story & Clark and few others also
used these actions for a few years starting about 1946. Somewhere once I
heard this was an experimently action produced by Wood & Brooks.

Does anyone know the full history on this action? The supply catalogs still
have a few parts listed and they mention Wood & Brooks.

The jack on this action was horizontal and pushed forward on the hammer butt
instead of up. It was kind of a clever idea but few if any were a good
responsive action. That's probably why it didn't survive.
