Steinway Upright Dampers

Dave,  I encountered this problem on Sohmer studios. Yor have diagnossed the
problem. The spring tension on the dampers is so strong it is creating a
termination point and the rest of the string is singing its heart out. I had
a little success in adjusting the bass damper pedal so that ithe tension
wasn't quite so hard. This DID improve the residual ringing.....          TOM
