Please excues the redundancy if someone has mentioned this before me. When using a belt sander to finish bridge pins, remember that there is a significant amount of heat generated by this procedure. Enough that you can negate the positives of installing new bridge pins. With enough exhuberance, even a file can heat the bridge pins enough to cause problems. The upshot of this is: USE GREAT CARE WHEN "LEVELING" BRIDGE PINS. Or better yet, use plated pins (available from several scources, including Yamaha) and don't grind them off at all.
