pitch raising the bass

Hi, Fred, welcome to the net.

The bass does not respond differently than the rest of the piano. It just does
not change as much.

If you are using a SAT it will calculate the pitch change (up or down) based
upon a 25% return.

With the SAT I pick up a change factor from A1 then tune the entire bass to
that you factor. Works great.

In the middle section I go up a major third or fourth to pick up my first
compensation factor to tune the first notes. Afterward I pick up a new factor
every major third. I do not strip the piano if it is a grand, just use a felt
wedge mute all the way. If it is a vertical I mute the middle section but pull
it out as I tune to do the unisons as I go. The only reason I use a strip is
because the stgring spacings are to close and irregular it is too time
consuming to use a felt wedge mute.

Have a nice week and best to the family.
