worth transporting to Germany?

There was a horrifying account in New Yorker of a Bechstein piano of a
similar vintage shipped into the states with perfect ivory.  U.S. Customs
made the owner rip off the ivory because the instrument wasn't over 100
years old and therefore did not qualify as an "antique".
