Since the topic of voicing has come up, I have a question about hammer strike point. Is there a way of predetermining the best strike point in the treble area around C6? It seems like you can't get a good read on the best place to put the hammers on the shanks until the piano is practically finished and you can get a clearer idea of how the whole section is going to sound. Resetting the hammers is not a huge task but it would be nice to have it all figured out and hang the hammers once. Are there other areas where resetting the hammer line would improve voicing? Also, a theoretical question--if you could determine the best strike point for every hammer, what kind of hammer line would you end up with? Finally, what does having varying shank lengths do to touchweight, power, repetition, etc.?
