Subject: Time: 2:46 PM OFFICE MEMO Re Rewooding Keys and Politics Date: 11/13/95 Thanks to Bill Spurlock and Randy Rush for their contribution about rebuilding fingernail-torn sides of keys. I have done this in the past with Durham's Rock Hard Putty, overfilling the gaps and then sanding flat to the unworn key surfaces. I will probably try your procedure next time if I don't replace the entire set of keys. As I said in a previous post, keyboards with side keysurfaces worn away usually have a myriad of other problems; i.e. worn sharps, worn key covers, key bushing mortises that have been dammaged from several key rebushings, etc. They are usually good candidates for new keys. As far as the political stuff is concerned, let's keep it low key and civil. I've seen many PTG Boards come and go with very different political views and yet the organization is still vital. I think the changes probably keep some sort of balance in the system so that the organization doesn't get too liberal or too conservative. Bill Spurlock had a good comment in his post that mentioned the possibility of people not getting involved in the administration of PTG if they fear they might be subjected to unreasonable and cruel criticism. Let's try to criticize constructively! Ken Sloane, Oberlin Conservatory
