IRC is Internet Relay Chat.  It is a service that lets many people be
connected live at the same time.  It is just like Parlor in AOL and
Conference Rooms on Compuserve.  The Electronic Communications Committee
makes use of Compuserve Conference Rooms regularly.  It gives you a chance
to discuss things.  Anything that is typed immediately goes to all that are
online.
