Avery, By all means, do it. I think an intelligent discourse between technician and teacher is sorely lacking. I also believe that as piano techs, we treat the teacher much like the sheepdog treats the sheep in the fine film "Babe". (go see it, you'll know what I mean) I won't scorch you, but BEWARE! You are entering a territory of the black arts. Many teachers know just enough about their instruments to make them dangerous and I have been told not to speak to them about anything technical- lest they "pop the hood" and go to town. Perhaps a dialogue through the internet would be most beneficial because there is no piano involved. Its not sitting idly by waiting for you to fix it. Neither is the teacher paying you to fix it. Perhaps with their guard down something can be accomplished. I'd be interested in this concept you're exploring, it may open some doors of insight. Eric Leatha tunrboy@aol.com
