Any help would be appreciated. > fred weinstein > Yes the papps mute (or know as papps wedge in England) was made as a tuning aid. Mr Pap was a French man who made pianos in France not England his other clame to fame wes he introduced overstring to France. I Have no date wen envented I spoke to sevaral older tuners who said that the wedge was introduced to England in the early 1930s. The origenal wedges were made of wood and worked a lot beter than the moden nylon wedges of to-day I did have a old wood wedge myself once but alase someone took a shine to it and releved me of it ;-(. But the moden wedge is still far superior than a listing mute. :-) Barrie Heaton. MABPT MIMIT England. piano@forte.demon.co.uk --
