Greetings,
Were the finishes damaged simply by getting cold, or was there the thermal shock of suddenly being exposed to a change of temp? I ask
because I have seen finishes that had gone through seasons in unheated spaces and they never checked, but one piano that was unloaded
on a cold January day into a heated house and immediately opened up crazed within 15 minutes. It was a refinished piano, and the plate
suffered the same thing.
