Fair enough. I would be interested in hearing from the techs at the claimed dozen other halls where this program has been performed of late. That is why I brought up the subject, to compare notes. I have not and will not repeat all of the descriptions of Mr. Kirchoff that I have received from others on the piano faculty. <grin> Enough, Kent On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 12:53 PM, Ed Sutton <ed440 at mindspring.com> wrote: > Kent- > > Can you tell us more about the music that was played, what techniques it > involved, and the damage done to the piano? > > Ed > > ----- Original Message ----- > *From:* Kent Swafford <kswafford at gmail.com> > *To:* Ed Sutton <ed440 at mindspring.com> ; caut at ptg.org > *Sent:* Monday, March 22, 2010 10:25 AM > *Subject:* Re: [CAUT] Keith Kirchoff > > Agreed. > > However, in this case the damaged state of the piano after the performance > spoke for itself. > > The faculty sponsor of the concert admitted he had never heard a piano > played as hard. > > The chair of the keyboard division left the concert before its end, saying > that she felt sorry for the piano. > > > Kent > > > On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 7:27 AM, Ed Sutton <ed440 at mindspring.com> wrote: > >> Kent, >> >> I don't know what Kirchoff's playing for you, but I'd submit that Cowell's >> forearm clusters, with force distributed over 12 to 20 keys, exert less >> force on the individual notes than the fortissimo octaves of typical >> late-romantic show-off repertoire. >> >> Ed S. >> >> >> ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amy Porter" <Amy.Porter at uregina.ca> >> To: <caut at ptg.org> >> Sent: Monday, March 22, 2010 12:16 AM >> >> Subject: Re: [CAUT] Keith Kirchoff >> >> >> Yes, actually I do.
