[CAUT] steinway agraffs

I've never needed an extractor, not once. Even before I made my agraffe removal tool, patience was all that was required. I was taught to cut a slot in the remaining stud and use a flat head screwdriver to back it out, and then, and only then, if that didn't work, pull out the drill. But I made a tool out of a cheap cabinet size screwdriver like the ones you can get at Wal Mart or Lowes for less than 90 cents. I filed a V in it, so that it has sharp points on the outer edges. Those points will grab whatever part of the broken stud you need it to grip, and with very little effort it will back right out. Nothing wrong with a little lubricant right in the agraffe hole if it won't move. But if you pull out the drill and extractor, you can guarantee yourself more work than it is worth.
My 2 cents.

Hi all-
I am needing to do a job I have only done one other time before. I need to replace of broken agraff.  If i am right, replacing a broken agraff is simple IF, IF, IF, everything comes out right.  Otherwise this job gets very complicated very fast.  Some one told me about one of the journal articles that refereed to the use of an engraving tool that removed much of the possible complication with this job.  what kind of insight can you give me on this project.
