I dont' think so.  I have a number of older actions out there, and early on, I cleaned them but not so totally.  Nothing seems to have grown or changed over the year.  I think the absence of lubed parts might keep the stuff from coming back.

The verdigris is coming from the action parts. When you remove the parts, you're removing the source. If you keep the old parts, even if you rebush and repin, there is still enough verdigris in the wood that it will eventually attack the new bushings and even creep back on the rail
