That's my guess, too. I bet a stage hand did it, or a pianist. It's going to be costly because I had to drive down there (1 hour round trip), order the part already finished (3x higher that way) but they need it fast. Then, another trip to install it. I've had that happen a couple times, except for the dumping it part, and both sticks are functioning fine (with a barely noticeable glue line).
