Just a thought, almost certainly not practical ... all those nice old Steinway parts, contaminated with grease which migrates into new center pin bushings ......... Has anyone ever tried coating the bare wood parts with something impervious to grease, to slow the migration? Perhaps dipping them in dilute lacquer, letting dry well, and then rebushing and installing new cushions, etc.? Can grease get through lacquer? Glue would stick to lacquer pretty well, wouldn't it?
