oddly enough, i just mediated a piano move to new zealand (from iowa). i contacted a local moving company who wrapped the piano much like a normal piano mover would, plus a plastic packing wrap (kinda like saran wrap) around the rim/front. i also secured the hammers with a "stick" from an uncrated new piano so the hammers wouldn't flop around all the way there. the most important thing is to get an internationally approved crate that will pass the customs check upon arrival. apparently, they will not allow a crate without the proper markings into the country. the moving company i used here had access to such a thing, packed the piano, and had a freight forwarder put it on a ship. so, long story short, contact a local moving company; anyone who does national/international stuff and they should be able to help you out. best, jeremy herrera On Wed, Nov 4, 2009 at 4:32 PM, David Ilvedson <ilvey at sbcglobal.net> wrote > List, > > I have a client buying a piano in SF Bay Area and shipping to New > Zealand.
