I've used the humidistat, dehumidifier bars with a small 39$ ultrasonic humidifier that I plugged in the humidistat. I had to get the cheapest one that didn't have any humidity control. Just a fan with 2 speeds. So, the humidistat had it on and off as if it was the regular humidifier bar. These small humidifiers have worked for me in situations like that. And since it was controlled, I left it right under the piano. He is concerned about the large and sometimes sudden climatic swings of temperature and humidity that occur in Southern Illlinois adversly effecting his relatively new piano. Any thoughts about the safety and compatability of Piano Lifesaver Systems in a grand piano with disklavier? I called the Dampp-chaser company and was told to avoid/re-route any electrical components from where the humidifer tanks were to be located. The client was apprehensive about moving any of the disklavier components. I called Yamaha and was informed that the humidification system should not be used with an installed disklavier system, period. My client, after discussing the issue, remains convinced localized humidification is the way to go, but would opt for a better room/house humidification system. BYW Yamaha did note that the dehumidifier rods could be used if placed so there is no direct temperature rise to the electrical components of the disklavier. Again, any thoughts?
