Similar thickness, but no finish. The gage is really for use 
in the hot box to roughly monitor the condition of the 
unfinished panel. Using it in real world situations like I 
described, it ought to be more reactive than a finished board. 
If you get little to no reaction from the more reactive gage, 
that ought to tell you what you need to know about what the 
board is(n't) doing.
