Yes, on the bench. I tried it in the piano but I really must have the right leverage and angle to do this by hand. I learned notching from Bolduc and learned that the tool is most important, along with a practiced technique. I can't do a smooth technique with this material unless it's on the bench. Hey Jim, A few years back I gave the idea of a power-notcher a fair amount of thought, and I think there was a bench-mount woodworking tool that might have made a fairly straight forward cross application. I believe it pivoted from a base, and had a router-type bit on the end, but rotated on a vertical axis, unlike the one in Del's shop. Are you cutting your notches on the bench Jim?
