Tab height remains the same since the ends of the levers are starting from relatively the same position (if they were adjusted right to start). If the underlevers are at an extreme angle then yes, the tab will be a little bit lower but the sos rod is adjustable. I've found that relocating the pivot to lifting the lever to parallel to the keybed, the sos rail falls into better regulation height-wise, position to backchecks and monkey height. Cut the wires? Only if the new top flange is different or your new felts are shorter. The levers are still being lifted to the same height so the upstop rail won't be a problem, if there is, it was there from the factory.
