Hi Eric,

Edwards String Covers. (Is that Jane, or her sister? I can't remember.) They don't diminish the sound whatsoever, eso. for a practice room. Goober catcher bar none.

Subject: [CAUT] string covers

Hi All,

We are contemplating the purchase of a number of new practice room grands and I am soliciting opinions on the utility of the string covers available today. The ones I am looking at are woolen which seems like a good idea to me both for keeping assorted food and dreck out of the action and belly as well as keeping condensation off the strings..We have a lot of rusty strings around here which doesn't make tuning any more fun than it already is.

Does anybody have experience with these covers? Do they muffle the sound much? I've never actually seen one of these in a piano except for photos.

Thanks!

Eric
