[CAUT] Key de-bushing question

Thanks Lou,

How can one really tell if the wood is dry enough? I don't have a hair
dryer, but lots of lamps. My heat gun would probably melt the cauls! How
long under the lamps?

Paul

Paul-

Use a hair dryer or heat lamp to accelerate drying time.

Hi folks,

I have a quick question for you. How long do you typically let the
mortise sizing cauls sit while the wood dries after steaming out old key
bushings? I usually do this at the end of a day, so they can sit over
night, but I'm wondering if just a couple of hours is enough. I finished
de-busing a few minutes ago and would like to have the whole set re-bushed
today, but if you all think they should still sit for 8-10 hours or more,
I'll wait until Monday.

Thanks
