[CAUT] String breakage "In C"

Much as I cringe at the prospect of people breaking strings "un-necessarily" by using performance pianos to play the pulse (with close let-off set so close in the high treble) WITHOUT INFORMING ME, I must say that, conceptually, the work is a significant milestone.  And even if I did not regard it as such, since my boss, the Dean of the School of Music, was on the original recording and our institute just gave it's creator, Terry Riley, an honorary Ph.D., it is yet another case of "ours not to question why."

Cheers,

Alan Eder

Sounds to me like the piece shouldn't be in anyone's library.

Perhaps they should just rename it "Out of C"
