Hi Andrew.... could be... at least partially. Could be along the lines Don mentioned as well. Certainly something is giving... a friction moment is overcome. I dont think anyone has even come close to clearly identifying the source of this click. Lots of speculation... but no one that I know of has done any highspeed photography, or other conclusive experimentation to show exactly what this tick comes from..... grin.... like somebody has money to spend on that project ! Cheers RicB Ric, Could string seating procedures also overcome friction at the bridge and move tension back behind the bridge? I done it and heard "ticks" as the string let go of its oxidised bonds and passed over the bridge. I've assumed that (in humid, rusty climates) the area behind the bridge can become a well of instability when pianos are tuned annually or less and these bonds can form. Andrew Anderson
