That might not justify it for Wim's administrator. ("It still sounded
great...") Maybe it would be better said "It still sounded OK but the
action couldn't be regulated to play properly... and the hammers were so
light that the touchweight was way out of specs..." You know, make it
sound as awful as you can. Just my 2 bits.

Here is a an old hammer and its replacement. Hammers get filed so  
much that touchweight can get too light. The set of hammers of which  
the hammer on the left was a part still sounded great when it was  
taken off; but it still needed to be replaced.
