Maybe it would be better said "It still sounded OK but the action couldn't be regulated to play properly... and the hammers were so light that the touchweight was way out of specs..." Here is a an old hammer and its replacement. Hammers get filed so much that touchweight can get too light. The set of hammers of which the hammer on the left was a part still sounded great when it was taken off; but it still needed to be replaced. Kent
