Pianotek sells buckskin by the square foot in thicknesses from 1.4mm, 1.5mm, 1.8mm & 2.3 mm. Maybe could suggest what would be the best thickness? Im going to try out some leather. On a couple of our more heavily used practice rooms, the cloth will only last a year or two. Im also going to look for a burr next time I take that one apart. We bought a box of leather scraps from Tandy and there are various sizes, etc. It cant be too hard/thick or too thin/soft. Not as thick as shoe leather and not as soft as backcheck leather. Bendable but not flimsy (See! I dunno ) Jim Busby Original message From: "Ken Zahringer" To: "College and University Technicians" Received: 10/2/2006 12:40:53 PM Subject: Re: [CAUT] Steinway Pedal Bushings Hmmm, thats interesting. What sort of leather do you use? Something not too thick, and quite flexible, I suppose. Would it be something like the gasket leather I get for player pianos & reed organs? Please elucidate.
