No matter what you pin the balancier to it is important to remember that the
jack (fly ala steinway) pinning is interdependent and then you must set both
sides of the spring. It is likely however that Wim's problem is something
else, perhaps tail length or surfacing, backcheck height, angle, or
surfacing, or hammer height in relation to the rest cushion less than a
shank's thickness preferably as little as possible, or any of the other
myriad possibilities.
