I just guesstimate an amount after the noise stops: x time pouring,
and visual of how much is being added, looking at the can before and
after. Based on experience. And check my experience with a finger in
the tank, where there isn't an undercover.

About 2 cm, enough to get below the slot for the tube/probe assembly,
plus a bit so it doesn't wick up through that hole. Dare? Heck, I
once ran it clear to the top, not thinking about that little slot.
And found that the water dripped out, so I wasn't ahead any <G>.
What's a wee bit of water on the carpet in a faculty office? Nobody
will ever notice.
