For those who want to look for Stuart Isacoff, use the spelling I just used.
He tends to be mostly an ET advocate, with a bit of a notion that mean tone
and some degrees of WT might be musical in some contexts. Not really a good
source for the information sought, though his book does go into the overall
history of temperament fairly well (light on info about well temperaments).
But don't swallow whole every assertion or historical quote in it. There are
several questionable assertions, and some just plain inaccuracies (in
fairness to Stuart, in most of the latter cases, he is parroting someone
else's inaccuracy).
