Hi, Michelle My favorite Gould CD in that Sony series is the two CD set of his recordings of Bach violin and viola da gamba sonatas (with Jaime Laredo and Leonard Rose.) It was recorded at the Eaton Centre in Toronto, I believe. One can hear them having a tremendous good time. Glenn's realizations of the keyboard part are delightful. But my main reason for liking this CD is that the recorded piano sound is the best I've ever heard. Glenn Gould had decided tastes about recorded sound, and IMHO he aced this one. Ear Candy, start to finish. I believe I heard one or two double-strikes, but I can't quite remember. Anyway, not a major issue. Susan P.S. For sheer musicality, Edwin Fischer's 1930's recordings of the Well Tempered Clavier can't be beat -- well I think that, anyway. Not historically correct, who cares? Well, no doubt some people would want it all historical, on a pianoforte or harpsichord, with an appropriate temperament, and few if any liberties taken. That's all very well, but these old recordings are also a part of history, and should be enjoyed for their own merits. >These CD's were the "GlennGould Edition" recorded by Sony classical. >(you know... the ones where his picture on the front are kinda blue >in color.)
