I have just the thing to use instead of the set screw: a quick-release = sailboat shackle pin. It works like a cotter pin, except what holds it = in place are two spring-loaded tiny ball bearings at the end of the = shaft, released by an internal plunger. I don't know if they make them = quite that small, though...
