Considering the shape of the Steinway flange. Avery You need to visualize which way you want the wippen to tilt. There are three ways to move the wippen. The first is moving the whole wippen from left to right, by repositioning the flange in the screw hole. Then you can angle the front of the wippen to the right or left by adding traveling paper to the whole length of the flange. Then you can tilt the top of the wippen from left to right by adding traveling paper to only the bottom of the flange. To get the wippen positioned correctly on the cushion and the jack tender, you need to do a little of all three.
