All, I have the mis-fortune of having to replace the pin block in a piano that had been "treated" by a previous tech. The piano has plate bushings, so the "dope" mostly just made a mess of the coils and tuning pins, and very little, if any, actually got through to the pin block. Months after it had been applied it was still just a gooey mess. My problem is this: What can I use to clean this off the plate for refinishing? I have a very smelly spray product called "Goof Off" that I used with limited success to get the stuff off my tools, so am wondering what else I could use that wouldn't also take the old finish down to bare metal? Or is that what I will have to do, and then prime it again before spraying? Any ideas? Thanks. Jeff Stickney, RPT University of Montana jpstickney@montanadsl.net
