Hi.

Ernie was, always, one of my favorite people. I remember a time of a New
York regional convention at a Day's Inn in New York City when Ernie was one
of the two people who showed up for my Sunday class. We had a wonderful
time because Ernie combined so many rare qualities: first, he was a Mensch,
he also had experience, European and American, knowledge of the piano and
its tone, knowledge of people and a profound sense of right. He also had a
particular sense of humor combining the Viennese and the American humerous
way of looking at life and at people.
Ernie had the rare gift of developing a rapport that was unique to the
person to whom he was relating. He and I had a special rappor, as he had
with many others, when we met there was never a need for introductory
proprieties, we just continued from where we had left off last week or last
year when we last met.
He didn't like some of the P.T.G. politics and he had the integrity to stand
up and say so. I'm not sure if we're striving in the same direction Ernie
wanted us to head but times do change and so do attitudes and opinions.
In the end Ernie left us his complete dedication to the P.T.G., a dedication
beyond politics and beyond occasional dissatisfactions. Those of us who
knew him well have been touched by Grace.
