Jumping right in here, out of turn...

It might just be that he wants to get it out of the way whilst restringing.

BUT, if it's that tight _without_ any string tension, he'd need an arbor 
press to get it in after it's strung.
(unless it's being held in there now by some paint which wasn't quite dry 
in the factory or, as someone said, downbearing has been adjusted by nosebolts)
