You might want to get a look at /or copy the voicing pages from the Schimmel technician's manual. The needling process is rather involved, but enlightening. [I believe they are using Renner Hammers.] So how have you been making Renner Hammers mellow? You might give Dan Malloy, RPT (Malloy Custom Pianos) in Cedar Rapids,IA. a "jingle"...or e-mail him... mcpianos@mcleodusa.net 319-363-9392 Dan has always been very helpful. He's been a Schimmel dealer for years, does all the prep on them. They always sound good to me...He can probably tell you how he would mellow them out. I think he says you can mellow them out about 20% I have 2 customers with the 6'9" Schimmels. One seems to like that tone, the other, likes a mellower sound. good luck, Richard Adkins Coe College
