INTERLOCHEN CENTER FOR THE ARTS


POSITION: RESIDENT PIANO TECHNICIAN  (non-seasonal, 12 month position)
DATE:  position open immediately; application deadline 11/1/02

RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of piano technology services including all
aspects of care, maintenance and use of pianos for concerts, teaching
and
practice; supervision of seasonal/contract technicians; reports to and
collaborates with the Assistant to the Director of Music who is
responsible
for administrative, budgetary and support coordination of piano
technology
function.  Essential duties during academic year include sustaining a
comprehensive maintenance program of 6 concert grand pianos (4 S&S, 1
Baldwin, 1 Kawai), 40 practice/studio grands (25 S&S 15
Baldwin/M&H/Kawai/Yamaha/Sieler) and 10 verticals (Kawai) located within

primary practice/teaching and recital/concert venues, and approximately
15
grands/20 verticals in secondary instructional/practice areas. Oversight
of
tuning/repair services for additional 150+ loaner pianos during annual
summer
camp, institute and music festival June-August.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Significant professional/institutional
experience
and demonstrated success in preparation of concert pianos to artist
performance standards.  Strong verbal and written communication,
interpersonal and organizational skills.  Previous association with
summer
music festival desirable; PTG membership, RPT status preferred.

SALARY:  Salary and very competitive benefits package, commensurate with

institutional salary range.

GENERAL:  Located among the woods and pristine lakes of Northern
Michigan,
this internationally known center for arts education provides students
from
around the world an opportunity to strengthen their commitment to and
understand their chosen artistic discipline.  The Center comprises the
Interlochen Arts Academy: a four year boarding high school for
artistically
gifted and talented students from around the world; the Interlochen
Pathfinder School: an independent day school (Pre-school 3 thru 8th
grade)
emphasizing arts in a academically challenging environment; the
Interlochen
Arts Camp: an 8 week summer arts program for 2000 students, ages 8 to
19;
Interlochen Public Radio: station WIAA-FM; and the Interlochen Arts
Festival:
an extensive year-round calendar of student concerts, plays and
exhibitions,
and guest artist appearances.
