I routinely remove the front rail punchings, about 12 at a time.  I do not
bother to remove the balance rail's because I cannot get down that close anyway
and I am mostly interested in the upper part of the pin anyway but do polish
down as far as I can get.  If the balance rail pins are severely corroded at the
base I will replace the pins.
