This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi Wim, I don't think you're going to have any difficulty resolving TW on this piano, or pleasing the musicians. Follow Susan's advice and measure UW. I will guess it is below 20g, and the low DW is a result of Lite hammers, not geometry. Careful selection and preparation of parts, including custom hammer preparations (common to good action rebuilding) seem to keep touch-weight issues fairly "meat & potatos" (or is it potatoe?) on these older actions. You are likely going to remove a bit of lead from the keys, (in an intuitive and calculated manner) then be very pleased with the results. If you would like more info on doing the weigh-off, de-leading, etc. you're welcome to e-mail me directly. best regards, Mark Cramer, Brandon University -----Original Message----- From: owner-caut@ptg.org [mailto:owner-caut@ptg.org]On Behalf Of Wimblees@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 2:32 PM To: Pianotech@ptg.org; caut@ptg.org Subject: make it heavier I just got done regulating a Steinway O, (1930's vintage). It has new h.s.f., keys rebushed, etc. But the down weight is less than 40 g. One piano major has already complained I should probably know this, but how do I make the action heavier?
