I'm not so sure about that last statement.  In the last few years I've had 
the same conversation when discussing projects for the next week.

Me, "...of course, next week is a short week with the holiday..."

He, "What holiday?"

Me, "Memorial Day" (for example).

These "academics" who have never worked a job which only had 2 weeks 
vacation, forsooth, never had less than THREE MONTHS vacation per year ALL 
THEIR LIVES have a real hard time conceptualizing the value of even one day 
off.  A holiday is just another day in the middle of an extended time 
off.   Working stiffs know the value of a day off.

Just compare what YOU did during spring break vs: what THEY did.
