Wim,

It seems you get the discussion going on most any subject.

I have had the very experience that you are mentioning. I have not had any
difficulty in pulling them out once the glue is loose. I have tried many
methods through the years. A local old-timer whom has since passed away
used to fold a thick cloth in to a strip that would cover the bushings, wet
it, wring it out, lay it over the bushings or other felt to be removed, then
set a hot iron on top. I can already hear the questions. Won’t this cause
the button or other glued things to come loose? Yes if the steam is left on
too long. This same method is good for removing keytops as well.

Subject: Kawai bushings

I am trying to rebush the balance rail of a 30 year old Kawai Studio. The
bushing are folded under the button. What is the trick to get the felt out
from under the button?

Wim
