high humidity (was tapping strings)

Hej Fred

We must not forget, that the forces keeping the pins not to turn, depends on
elasticity in the pinblock. This elasticity could be much lesser in winterdry
rooms. Seems in agreement with cracks and splits forming in dry conditions.
Moreover many pins is not circular, up to 2-3 hundredth mm in cross section,
and that makes further demands on elasticity. Many must know the feeling - when
turning an old pin out in order to replace a string (and pin) - that the
friction can vary a lot every quarter of a turn.

As you will guess I also finds looser pins in wintertime.
